Austin Coffee Houses

I am searching for decently made hot chai. I've tried it at spiderhouse, kenneys coffe co [wells branch], and also JP's java. All seemed watered down and insufficent.

Any suggestions?

If you like a really sweet and creamy chai, try Summermoon on South 1st. If you like something spicier and closer to what you'd get at an Indian restaurant, go to Ruta Maya on Ben White & Congress.

My husband who wasn't a big fan of chai at first, tried one at Jo's on South Congress, and it drove him to love it.

Ditto on this! They make a green tea chai that is super yummy!

Summermoon's chai is okay, but the vanilla one is made with powder, so has that kind of grainy texture to it.

I have fallen completely in love with the red tea lattes at Fair Bean, and while I haven't tried their chai yet I'd be willing to bet that it's really good.

I like chai at Genuine Joe's on Anderson, but the really best one I had was a couple of years ago at the Coffee Plant at Parmer & Avery Ranch. I used to work way out there and only miss the yummy chai; I don't even know if they are still open...
