If you hadn't heard, Texpresso closed a few weeks ago.

If you hadn't heard, Texpresso has just reopened.

If you're in Austin and you haven't been there yet, you ought to drop by. The owner, Dave, bills the Texpresso as "the smoothest, richest, creamiest, most delicious cup of coffee in the world," and he may very well be right. The atmosphere is a little sterile, but it's pleasant, and there are times (like when I want to get some work done) that sterile is good. You can also sit outdoors behind the restaurant and enjoy the remarkably mellow vibe. They talk sports a lot and I could give a damn about most sports, but they're almost always friendly and upbeat and they always remember my name and how I take my coffee. They've got wifi, of course, and they're just a few yards from an Alamo Drafthouse, a comic book/gaming shop, Star of India, a decent Korean restaurant, and Obee's, which makes a pretty mean sandwich.

New Coffee Places Opening Soon [Jul. 18th, 2007|09:09 am]

I got  a friend's request today from a new coffee place opening up on Airport Road.  It's called Kick Butt Coffee.  LOL!! ;), You can draw your own conclusions from that, but I'm excited a new one is popping up.

Also, the Fair Bean Coffee place is coming to fruition.  I actually saw the sign put up.  It's located on South 1st in a new shopping center-just across from End of An Ear.  My guess is they'll be open sometime this fall.

24 hour coffee [May. 7th, 2007|11:56 pm]
Austin Coffee Houses

[mood |tiredtired]

I need a 24 hour coffee place (or one that opens around 5 am) thats central/south... the only ones I know about are Epoch and Anderson Lane Starbucks, both too far north.

I am studying for a final and want to be as close to school as possible so I can study for as long as possible before my test starts. I go to ACC Rio Grande (very close to 12th and Lamar)

Einsteins is probably open, but its probably crazy early in the morning. In fact I know it is and I don't want to be too distracted.

I'm thinking of going to Katz's and just getting coffee and studying there... has anyone ever done that? Will they shun me?

Has anyone been to Dominican Joe's on South Congress & Riverside?  I tried the mocha there and it wasn't all that great.  In fact, I felt like it was gas station rate sweet coffee mixes.  Uggghhh.  Yet, if you like quiet....that, it most definitely is...at least on Sundays.

It's not exactly "new", but Swerve is now the Irie Bean Coffee Bar on 2310 South Lamar.  There's no mention of Swerve, so I'm guessing it's a completely different company that also happens to be a coffee spot.  At least it changed from a coffee business to coffee business & will maintain the cool backyard area.

Clementine SUCKS! [Apr. 14th, 2007|04:24 pm]
Austin Coffee Houses

[Current Location |2200 Manor]
[mood |annoyedannoyed]

Sitting here in Clementine Cafe (on 2200 Manor) as we "speak" and I have to say I'm giving the service a thumbs down... polite but not the least bit courteous... got the run around when I asked for water (got blown off 3 times!) as it was simply beneath the staff to put my cup beneath the (already running) faucet behind them. Sitting at the bar I waved at the staff, both of whom looked right at me and ignored me outright - got a "bottomless" cup of coffee (at least got charged for it) but then got charged $.50 for a refill and when I inquired about it was hassled about the difference between a 2.38 regular cup of coffee and a 2.50 "bottomless" cup... never got a receipt so I couldn't point to anything but let it go as it was the principle not the extra couple quarters I cared about...

Austin art business is total scam! [Feb. 15th, 2007|11:27 am]
Austin Coffee Houses

The people at ArtDirect.com/ArtCloseouts.com have completely scammed me out of $200.

Do **NOT** purchase anything from them.
Do **NOT** let your friends and family do business with them.

They are completley crooked. A total scam.
They have had numerous complaints and disputes through EBay and PayPal so they KNOW how to work the system.

Once again:
ArtDirect.com and ArtCloseouts.com = TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS!!

Say no to: http://www.artdirect.com/Shop/Control/fp/SFV/12840 !
Say no to: http://cgi3.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=art-closeouts !
